The Indianapolis Colts lead the New York Jets, 3-0, after one quarter at MetLife Stadium. Adam Vinatieri hit a 20-yard field goal with 6:20 left in the quarter to put the Colts ahead, 3-0.
The Colts had the ball inside the Jets' 5-yard line, but rookie quarterback Andrew Luck overthrew his target in the end zone on third down and Indianapolis had to settle for the field goal.
New York will have the ball in Indianapolis territory to start the second quarter. The Jets got the offense going on their final drive of the quarter, going 60 yards on 11 plays to end the quarter with the ball in dangerous position.
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was just 2-for-4 passing in the first quarter for 18 yards. Running back Shonn Greene lead the Jets' rushing attack with seven carries for 43 yards.
For Indianapolis, Luck was 5-for-8 passing for 47 yards in the first quarter..
The Colts are 2-2 on the season, coming off a 30-27 win over the Green Bay Packers a week ago. The Jets are 2-3 thus far in 2012 after losing, 23-17, to the Houston Texans last week.
