Islanders Vs. Devils Final Score: New Jersey Holds On For 3-1 Win

Travis Zajac scored on a powerplay just 22 seconds into the second period to provide the winning margin for the New Jersey Devils against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night. It was just his second goal of the season, coming off an assist from Zach Parise. The goal broke a 1-1 tie to give the Devils their fourth straight win.

Matt Moulson scored the Islanders' only goal of the night just 2:39 after Patrik Elias put the Devils up 1-0 just over a minute into the game. Johan Hedberg was a bit better than Al Montoya in net, stopping 19 of 20 shots against. Montoya had 17 saves against 19 shots faced. Ilya Kovalchuk scored the Devils' third and final goal on an empty net with 55 seconds left to play in the game.

The Devils go to Detroit to take on the Red Wings on Thursday, before closing out the regular season against the Ottawa Senators at home Saturday. The Islanders host the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday before taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road Saturday.
