Islanders Vs. Panthers Final Score: New York Defeats Florida, 3-2, In Shootout

The New York Islanders defeated the Florida Panthers, 3-2, following a shootout on Sunday from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.

The game was tied 2-2 after regulation. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on the strength of Stephen Weiss' 19th goal of the season. The Isles responded in the second period on a power-play goal. P.A. Parenteau and John Tavares set up Matt Moulson for his team-leading 34th goal of the season. In the third period, Tomas Fleischmann put the Panthers up 2-1 before Kyle Okposo scored his 17th goal of the season to save the result for the Islanders.

Both Evgeni Nabokov and Jose Theodore were playing well enough to give their team the win. Nabokov and Theodore kept the game scoreless in overtime. During the shootout, Nabokov stopped John Madden. Frans Nielsen was able to beat Theodore with a backhand shot. Wojtek Wolski was then turned aside by Nabokov. Theodore responded by stopping John Tavares. The Islanders won the shootout when Marcel Goc missed his shot wide.
