The New York Islanders will look to end a three-game losing streak Tuesday, as they host the Washington Capitals at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY (7 p.m. ET on MSG-Plus). The Islanders (28-31-10, 66 points) are looking to take the season series against the Capitals (35-28-6, 76 points), who's playing their final game against New York this season.
The Islanders are coming off a tough 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils, which trailed 1-0 with 1:39 remaining in the game. On Sunday, New York lost to cross-city rivals the New York Rangers, 4-3, in overtime.
Meanwhile, the Capitals are reaching a critical point in their season, as they begin a five-game road trip and clinging onto the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington is holding off the Buffalo Sabres, who're in ninth place and just two points behind the Capitals, and the Winnipeg Jets, four points behind.
