Islanders Vs. Sabres Final Score: Buffalo Hangs On For 2-1 Win

The Buffalo Sabres scored quick goals to start the first and second periods, putting them up 2-0 before the New York Islanders had a chance to respond in Buffalo's 2-1 win at the First Niagara Center. Frans Nielsen scored with just over five minutes left in the game for the Isles' only goal of the night.

Ryan Miller was a stalwart in net for the Sabres, turning back 30 shots on goal. The Islanders had a chance to tie the game with 4:04 left in the third period, but Miller stuffed Matt Moulson on the goal line. Buffalo out-shot New York 37-31 on the night. Backup goaltender Kevin Poulin played well in net, considering the pressure he faced. The Islanders' offense, once again, simply couldn't perform.

The Islanders had went 106 minutes without a goal before Nielsen found nylon, coming off a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of the Nashville Predators on Monday night. They will faceoff against the New York Rangers at home on Thursday.
