The New York Islanders have won two consecutive games and look to make it three tonight as they host the Carolina Hurricanes. Both teams are bottom-dwellers in the Eastern Conference standings with 42 points a piece and trail the eighth place Florida Panthers by 10 points.
Carolina is also coming off a victory, a three to nothing shutout over the Washington Capitals. Tonight represents the second game in as many nights for the Hurricanes; they're 3-6 in the second game of a back to back this season, and 5-13-5 on the road, where they'll be playing tonight.
The Islanders are coming off a victory over the playoff-bound Philadelphia Flyers, in which they snapped a 13 game losing streak in Philadelphia. They won by a final score of 4-1 behind two assists from center John Tavares.
The game is scheduled for 7:00 EST at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
