Islanders-Stars Final Score: Dallas Tops New York, 3-2

The New York Islanders were hoping to snap a three-game losing streak Thursday night and actually led 2-1 heading into the third period. Unfortunately they were unable to hold the lead and wound up losing to the Dallas Stars by a final score of 3-2 at the Nassau Coliseum.

Dallas drew first blood with a tip-in by Loui Eriksson (assisted by Jamie Benn and Trevor Daley) at 8:36 of the opening frame; however, New York answered back with a tip-in of its own by Michael Grabner (assisted by Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen).

The Islanders took over late in the second stanza when Kyle Okposo (assisted by Marty Reasoner and Travis Hamonic) found the net at 18:24.

The Stars needed just over a minute to score a power play goal to open the third period when Brenden Morrow (assisted by Steve Ott and Mike Ribeiro) snapped one in from long distance to make it two-apiece.

They eventually took a 3-2 lead, good enough to win the game, on Jamie Benn's wrist shot (assisted by Michael Ryder and Loui Eriksson).

Dallas improves to 18-11-1 with the win while New York falls to 9-14-6 in defeat.
