A day after the New York Giants placed injured tight end Jake Ballard on waivers, the New England Patriots have reportedly claimed him. Ballard's agent tweeted on Tuesday, "As I stated yesterday a 'smart' football organization might claim @NYG_J_Ballard85 while he's hurt to own his rights. He's now a Patriot!"
Ballard and his agent both tweeted on Monday about Ballard wanting to return to the Giants for the 2013 season when he will be physically ready to play. Ballard is currently recovering from an ACL injury he suffered during Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots.
Ballard's agent was surprised to say the least when tweeting on Tuesday about his client being claimed by New England. Baratz tweeted "@MikeGarafolo absolute Insanity. One day your meeting the President w/your team, next day your released, next day ur on the team u beat in SB."
