The New York Giants have been projected by the 2012 SB Nation Mock Draft to select Wisconsin center Peter Konz with the 32nd pick of the first round (via SB Nation).
Seeing Konz' name beside the Giants in the mock might seem a bit unorthodox at first as their need is at tackle. Indeed, recent mocks have projected Ole Miss' Bobby Massie or Stanford's Jonathan Martin to New York. While Konz is listed as a center, he does have the potential to play guard. However, our Giants blog Big Blue View made the Konz pick and offered the following take on the Wisconsin offensive lineman.
The Giants could go a lot of different ways here: offensive line, wide receiver, running back, linebacker, and cornerback. Konz seemingly doesn't fill the need for an offensive tackle, but he is the best offensive lineman and best value left on the board. Giants GM Jerry Reese is all about value, so Konz is the choice. Besides, he could end up starting at left guard.
