The celebrated second season of New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul's career continues to be recognized in new ways. Just one day after being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January, the 23-year old can add another honor to his growing stable of awards: First-Team All-Pro.
Pierre-Paul was selected to the Associated Press 2011 NFL All-Pro Team, it was revealed early Friday afternoon when the voting was announced. The defensive end recorded 86 tackles and led New York with 16.5 sacks, joining Lawrence Taylor and Michael Strahan as the third Giant to reach at least 16 sacks.
He will lead the Giants against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in the wild card round of the NFC playoffs.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson and Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen were the top vote-getters, receiving 49 of 50 votes at their respective positions.
