Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is aware that he has yet to win a playoff game. But he doesn't see the past affecting Sunday's wild card game against the New York Giants.
"It is the first opportunity that I have and we have as a team this postseason," said Ryan. "We are excited about that. All the stuff that happened in the past doesn't really make a difference. It comes down to preparing this week and doing whatever we can to keep advancing throughout the playoffs."
Ryan has lost in each of his two prior playoff games, throwing two interceptions in each loss. His Falcons fell in the first round to Arizona as a rookie in 2008, then dropped a blowout to Green Bay at home last season.
The 26-year-old racked up the best numbers of his career, throwing 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions during Atlanta's last four games to finish the regular season with 4,177 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
