2012 NFL Mock Draft: SI's Don Banks Picks Zebrie Sanders For Giants

When it comes to the 2012 NFL draft, the selection order is set for every team other than the New York Giants and the New England Patriots who play in Super Bowl XLVI next Sunday. However, the Giants will either pick at No. 31 or No. 32. Since the Patriots are favored to win the Super Bowl, most recent mock drafts have the Giants going on the clock at No. 31 and Sports Illustrated's most recent mock draft is no exception.

SI's Don Banks has the Giants making the 31st pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft and with that pick, Banks has the Giants selecting Florida State offensive tackle Zebrie Sanders.

The Giants could use an inside linebacker like Dont'a Hightower of Alabama, but I also think it wouldn't hurt to start looking for Kareem McKenzie's replacement at right tackle. And by the way, Giants fans, I'm not predicting a Patriots' Super Bowl win by slotting New York at No. 31, just going by New England's superior record at the moment.

SB Nation's Mocking the Draft says that Zebrie Sanders has the potential to be a very good pass protector.

Zebrie Sanders is the type of prospect that will gain a lot of attention as the season progresses. He is a decent athlete with quick feet and good balance. His ability to protect the edge and anchor after initial contact makes him a very good pass protector. While he plays right tackle at FSU, Sanders possesses the potential to shift to left tackle and hold the edge. His best attribute is his ability to velcro to a defender and lock him out away from his body. This will make him attractive to zone blocking teams.
