2012 NFL Mock Draft, New York Giants: Six-Round Mock Begins With Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama

I am not a fan of multiple-round mock drafts, especially those that try to project what might happen into the later rounds. Especially with three months to go before the 2012 NFL Draft there are a great many variables that can make these inaccurate.

Still, they can be instructive in terms of what draft analysts see as a team’s needs. Draft Tek, which uses a computer simulation and its own Big Board of draft prospects to map out a potential draft, has released its latest six-round simulation.

Here are Draft Tek’s picks for the Super Bowl-bound New York Giants, who currently have the 31st pick.

Round 1 (31st overall) — Dont’a Hightower (MLB, Alabama)

Draft Tek says “It’s no secret, the Giants desperately need a long term MLB.” and Hightower is “needed in New York and quite frankly, would be a steal at pick 31.”

Round 2 (63rd) – Lamar Miller (RB, Miami)
Round 3 (94th) — Marcus Forston (DT, Miami)
Round 4 (126th) – Philip Blake (C, Baylor)
Round 5 (158th) - David Paulson (TE, Oregon)
Round 6 (190th) – Derek Dennis (G, Temple)

Your thoughts, Giants fans? I like using the middle rounds to add some offensive line depth, to be honest.
