Mel Kiper 2012 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State To New York Giants

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper has set the Inter-Google aflame today, and mock draft enthusiasts everwhere into a tizzy, releasing his first 2012 NFL Mock Draft [Insider Only].

When it comes to the New York Giants Kiper has identified the same offensive weakness that most other observers see — the offensive line. To rectify it, Kiper has the Giants selecting Florida State offensive tackle Zebrie Zanders with the 29th pick of the first round in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Kiper says:

The Giants have done a fantastic job of coaching up this offensive line after some big changes heading into the season, but they could get younger and add some talent, and Sanders would be a solid fit. This offense is going to be dynamic if it can open holes for the run game and provide time for Eli Manning, so an investment in the offensive line is never a bad idea.

The National Football Post has the 6-foot-6, 307-pound Sanders rated 69th on its current Big Board. NFP’s Wes Bunting says Sanders “Possesses a good amount of upside as well and looks like a starter on either side of the O-line.”
