Joe Namath Compares Plaxico Burress To Braylon Edwards ... In A Bad Way

Joe Namath is going to be revered in New York for as long as the Hall of Fame quarterback lives. The former Jets quarterback isn’t exactly doing his best to endear himself to his old team’s current players, however.

Namath did an interview with ESPN’s First Take on Tuesday morning to talk about Mark Sanchez’s play during Monday night’s game against the New York Giants, a game that matters very little considering wins and losses don’t mean anything for a couple more weeks.

After Namath was done breaking down Sanchez’s play, though, he decided to take a bit of a jab at Plaxico Burress while comparing him to former New York wide receiver Braylon Edwards — and not in a good way, either.

"When I see Burress, certainly in the past, and Edwards, their route running and adjusting, I didn’t like it — and I still don’t," Namath told ESPNNewYork.com Tuesday. "I’ll be surprised if Burress and Sanchez click well and I’ll be even more surprised if Burress, after being laid off for two years and change, is going to make it through the season."

Okay, so Namath is mostly referring to Burress and his likely being injury-prone this season, but another comment he made on Tuesday sort of reads like he’s not the biggest fan of the former Giants wideout.

"I hope he makes All-Pro, but the realistic side of me … the reality is, he’ll be damn lucky if he makes it through the season," Namath said.

Tell us how you really feel, Broadway Joe.
