WFAN radio talk show windbag Mike Francesa will be broadcasting live from New York Training Camp today beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Fireworks are sure to ensue.
I'm not a big Francesa fan. I love WFAN's Paul Dottino, who shows up to watch the Giants every single day, works the phones, works the players and knows what is going on. Francesa sits in the WFAN ivory tower with his long-held beliefs and tries only to make sure he sounds smarter than anyone foolish to call his show or disagree with him.
That said, with Francesa venturing to the Timex Performance Center for the afternoon you can bet it won't be a completely quiet, unnoticeable appearance. Francesa is a big-time Giants booster -- has been since the Bill Parcells era and maybe before -- but you can be certain he will go into attack-dog mode on somebody today.
Will it be Eli Manning? There are those 25 interceptions a season and Eli's recent comments putting himself in the Tom Brady quarterback class. Jerry Reese? The GM's playoff guarantee/non-guarantee and losing a few big-name players might put him in the crosshairs. Coach Tom Coughlin? Disgruntled defensive end Osi Umenyiora?
It's not often I will tell you to listen to Francesa. If you have a chance today, though, you would have to think something noteworthy will happen.
