NFL Playoff Picture: Giants, Jets On The Outside Looking In

The NFL Playoff Picture as we approach Thanksgiving.

With just one game left on the NFL's Week 11 slate, a Monday Night Football meeting between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL Playoff Picture has begun to take shape. Unfortunately for the New York football fans, both the New York Giants and New York Jets are currently on the outside looking in.

NFC

Two weeks ago the Giants were 6-2 with a two-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys and total control of the NFC East. Now they are 6-4, tied with Dallas atop the division, and facing the reality that the Cowboys hold the tie-breaker advantages and have an easier schedule the rest of the way. Dallas has a better division record thatn the Giants (2-1 vs. 1-2) and a better conference record (5-2 vs. 3-4). Thus, it would appear crucial that the Giants win the two games they have remaining with Dallas, Dec. 11 in Dallas and a season-ending meeting at MetLife Stadium Jan. 1.

NFC Division Leaders
Green Bay Packers (10-0)
San Francisco 49ers (9-1)
New Orleans Saints (7-3)
Dallas Cowboys (6-4)

Wild Card Leaders
Detroit Lions (7-3)
Chicago Bears (7-3)

In The Hunt
Atlanta Falcons (6-4)
New York Giants (6-4)

AFC

At 5-5, the Jets are much like the Giants. Sitting 5-3 a couple of weeks ago and having won three straight the Jets looked a like a certain playoff team. After two losses in a row, including an awful one Thursday in Denver, the Jets are reeling and their season is on the ropes.

AFC Division Leaders
Baltimore Ravens (7-3)
Houston Texans (7-3)
New England Patriots (6-3)
Oakland Raiders (6-4)

Wild Card Leaders
Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3)
Cincinnati Bengals (6-4)

In The Hunt
Denver Broncos (5-5)
Tennessee Titans (5-5)
New York Jets (5-5)
Buffalo Bills (5-5)
Kansas City Chiefs (4-5)
