New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw will miss Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers due to the cracked bone in his foot, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Bradshaw, the Giants’ leading rusher with 440 yards this season, also missed last Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots due to the injury. Bradshaw’s absence means Brandon Jacobs will start at running back for the second consecutive week.
Bradshaw has a history of foot and ankle injuries. He suffered this latest injury two games ago in a victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Jacobs gained 72 yards on 18 carries against the Patriots in his first start of the season. The loss of Bradshaw also means potential snaps for backup running backs D.J. Ware and Da’Rel Scott.
The Giants did get good news on Hakeem Nicks hamstring injury. He practiced on a limited basis Thursday after missing the New England game. coach Tom Coughlin said Nicks "is definitely in the right direction.”
