The Miami Dolphins kept the New York Giants on the ropes for the majority of Sunday's game, but were unable to put away the home team and pick up their first win of the season.
After trailing for almost the entire game, the Giants defense was able to limit the Dolphins to only a field goal through the entire second half. Midway through the fourth quarter, Eli Manning led the Giants on their most important drive of the game, finishing with a pass to Victor Cruz, who made a nifty grab and added some fancy footwork to find the end zone. That put the Giants ahead for the first time in the game, and they would hold onto their 20-17 lead to pick up the win.
Nearly as important as the Cruz touchdown was the New York defense following that score. They completely shut the Dolphins down by stuffing Reggie Bush on an attempted punt return, and a huge sack by Osi Umenyiora on Miami QB Matt Moore for a ten-yard loss.
Manning finished the game with 349 passing yards and two touchdowns.
