Week 6 NFL Picks: Giants, Jets Get Back On Track

The local NFL franchises, the New York Giants and Jets, are reeling heading into Week 6 and if I were a fan of either team, I'd start panicking just a bit. Yes, there's a long way to go in the 2011-12 campaign, but let's just face it -- the Giants just lost to the Seattle Seahawks (yeah, the 2-3 SEAHAWKS!), while the Jets are currently on a three-game skid and face the Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots in the next five weeks.

To cut the chase, both the Giants and Jets need a victory this week. Will they get it? Find out after the jump...

Giants (-3) vs. Bills (1 p.m. on FOX): To say this game is important for New York's playoff chances could be an understatement. If the Giants (3-3) lose to the Bills (4-1) then it could fall a 1 1/2 games behind the Washington Redskins in the NFC East standings. Because of that, I think New York wins at home. Prediction: Giants 31, Bills 24.

Eagles (-2) at Redskins (1 p.m. on FOX): Its do or die for Philadelphia (1-4), which if they fall to 1-5 is almost out of the playoff race by Week 6. Ouch. Washington (3-1) has been playing well, but I still don't trust Rex Grossman. Prediction: Eagles 24, Redskins 20.

Falcons (-4) vs. Panthers (1 p.m. on FOX): Cam Newton and Carolina (1-4) is due to pull off a big upset. This is that upset. Sorry Atlanta (2-3). Prediction: Panthers 34, Falcons 28.

Patriots (-7) vs. Dallas (4:15 p.m. on FOX): The public always loves the Cowboys (2-2), who are coming off a bye, but that doesn't earn you wins over New England (4-1). Predictions: Patriots 30, Cowboys 20.

Jets (-7) vs. Dolphins (Monday, 8:30 p.m. on ESPN): When these two teams get together its always a coin toss. However, Miami (0-4) is starting Matt Moore at quarterback and you have to think New York head coach Rex Ryan can figure out how to use that to his advantage. Prediction: Jets 21, Dolphins 10.

Last Week: 2-2-1. Overall: 10-8-2.
