New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters today that he is not considering coaching staff changes “right now” despite his team missing the playoffs for the second straight season.
It seems, though, there is a possibility the staff may change even if Coughlin does not want it to. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride is apparently a candidate for the vacant UConn job, and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell appears set to interview for the head coaching vacancies in Cleveland and Carolina.
Gilbride is a North Haven, Conn., native but is considered a longshot for the vacancy with the Huskies.
Whether or not Fewell is a legitimate candidate for the Cleveland and Carolina jobs, or whether those teams are just interviewing him to meet the Rooney Rule requirements, is something we will just have to wait to find out.
Meanwhile, Giants fans wonder what special teams coach Tom Quinn — whose units have been among the worst in the league for three seasons and were directly responsible for the Philadelphia debacle — has to do in order to lose his job.
