Pro Football Hall of Fame: Michael Strahan, Bill Parcells among nominees

Former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan is a first-year nominee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has released its full list of nominees for induction in 2013, and former Giant Michael Strahan is among 13 first-year eligible former players on the list. The only other player among the first-year nominees with ties to either New York team is Morten Andersen, who kicked briefly for the Giants toward the end of his career.

Beyond Strahan and Andersen, there were 10 other former Giant players included on the list of 89 former players. Those 10 include the following:

  • Phil Simms
  • Ottis Anderson
  • TIki Barber
  • Herschel Walker
  • Brian Mitchell
  • Todd Christensen
  • Lomas Brown
  • Everson Walls
  • Sean Landeta
  • Joe Fields

The Giants also had four non-playing nominees, including the following:

  • Bill Parcells
  • Dan Reeves
  • Bill Arnsparger
  • George Young

The Jets had some representation on the nominee list as well. Former Jets player nominated include the following:

  • Keyshawn Johnson
  • Joe Klecko
  • Steve Atwater
  • Joe Fields

In addition to those players, the Jets had the following former coaches nominated as well:

  • Bud Carson
  • Bill Parcells
