New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz visited the family of six-year-old Jack Pinto, one of the 27 victims of the Newtown, Conn. shooting tragedy.
Cruz found out that Pinto was a fan of his and reached out to the family, speaking to the parents and 11-year-old brother of Jack on Saturday night. Cruz wrote "RIP Jack Pinto" and "My Hero" on his cleats and dedicated the game to the boy. On Tuesday, Cruz had a day off and visited the family in Connecticut.
Cruz spent three hours visiting with the family and children in the area, giving them Giants memorabilia. One guest said of the visit, "It was a successfully private moment, and I'd prefer to keep it that way." Following the visit Cruz tweeted:
Much love to the entire Pinto family. Great people with huge hearts. I'm sorry again for your loss. Looking at life through a different lens
