Giants' Antrel Rolle responds to A.J. Green

The Bengals' A.J. Green gave a critique of the Giants defense earlier this week, and Antrel Rolle has responded.

Jim McIsaac

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green made news when he said the New York Giants defense has "a lot of holes" ahead of Sunday's game between the two teams. Giants cornerback Antrel Rolle was asked to respond to Green's comments, and he wasn't in total disagreement:

Q: AJ Green said your defense has some holes in it.

A. I think every defense has holes in it. If our defense has holes in it, then he shouldn’t have a problem exploiting it. The game has to be played on Sunday. The game has to be played on Sunday and we just try and make sure we take our best approach out there come Sunday and go into our bye 7-3.

Green certainly has the skills to back up his talk. The second-year player out of Georgia has 116 catches for 1,792 yards and 15 touchdowns through his first 23 games as a pro. Rolle and his teammates know exactly what type of player Green is and the important of stopping him.

You can’t take anything from AJ Green. He’s a great receiver and I think definitely the best player on the offensive side of the ball. He makes a number of plays for them and I think his relationship with Dalton is something special.

Still, as much as Rolle respects Green as a player, nobody likes to be told they aren't doing a good job. Rolle will certainly keep his out for the wide receiver during the game, and make sure his "voice" is heard:

I I’ll let my pads do the talking on Sunday. That’s how I approach the game. That’s how we approach the game, and if he sees me, he better duck.

The Giants and Bengals face off in Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. This marks the second-straight week New York will face an AFC North opponent, after falling to the Steelers at home on Sunday. The Bengals are just 3-5 on the season, but do have plenty of offensive talent. However, the Giants might have a little extra motivation to plug up some of their "holes" this weekend.
