Giants (6-4) vs. Packers (7-3), game day preview: Facts, stats, analysis

The New York Giants meet the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. Here is a complete breakdown of what to expect.

Andy Lyons

There are six games left in the NFL regular season, and New York Giants' defensive end Osi Umenyiora knows what time it is. Time for the defending Super Bowl champion Giants to show whether or not they have what it takes to make a serious run at defending their title.

The Giants (6-4) host the Green Bay Packers (7-3) Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC).

"I’m anxious to see how we come out and play because I feel like we need to respond to the key games that we’ve lost and we also need to prove that we are still world champions and play like it at some point," Umenyiora said this week.

STATE OF THE GIANTS

Not as good as it could, or should, be. The Giants are 6-4 and lead the NFC East over the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, both 6-5. The Giants, though, are in the midst of their annual November swoon having lost their last two games. Eli Manning and the offense have been struggling, and the defense is surrendering too many big plays and not getting enough pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

A victory on Sunday, though, would do wonders for the Giants. It would quell the November swoon talk and give the Giants a two-game division lead with five games to play.
