Giants vs. Packers: New York aims to regain focus

The New York Giants' bye week is history. They now embark on a six-game sprint to the finish line that will determine whether or not they make it to the playoffs.

At 6-4 the Giants lead the NFC East. Coming off a pair of disappointing losses before the bye and facing one of the league's most difficult schedules over the rest of the way the Giants are trying to regroup and re-focus heading into the stretch run.

"Six-game schedule. That’s it, six-game season. We’re excited about that," head coach Tom Coughlin said. "It’s certainly in our hands, in our own control. We have a one-game lead in the division. We play some very good football teams down the stretch here, but that’s what it is. It’s a stretch. We’re excited about that part of it. We look forward to it."

That stretch begins Sunday night (8:20 p.m./NBC) against the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers. The Packers are 7-3 and riding a five-game winning streak. The Giants open the week as three-point favorites.

The Giants reportedly held a players' only meeting when they returned to work on Monday.

"I think our sense of urgency has to be great and we have to come out of this bye running," said defensive captain Justin Tuck. "We've been down this road before and I know the leadership and the veteran guys know what we're up against and we've come out of these situations on top more than not, but every year is different. We can't rely on the fact that we have the experience of being in these situations. We have to go out there and play the game and play it at a high level to be successful."
