NFL Power Rankings: Giants are consensus top five team

The Giants won a fourth consecutive game by holding off a late rally from the Cowboys.

While they had to hold off a late rally by the Cowboys and were literally a fingertip away from losing, they didn't and managed to earn a fourth straight victory. The win makes the Giants one of just four teams with six wins, as all four are just one game behind the 7-0 Atlanta Falcons.

Although almost every power rankings has the Giants in the top four, the placement has varied. In Ryan Van Bibber's latest power rankings for SB Nation, he has the Giants as the third best team in the NFL:

3. New York Giants (LW: 3, 6-2): Eli Manning has been winning in Dallas since the Cotton Bowl in 2004. He and the Giants own a 4-0 record at Jerry Jones' temple of sprawl.

Both Pete Prisco of CBS Sports and Brian Billick of FOX gave them one spot lower than that, as Prisco noted the fact that the Giants improved to 4-0 at the new Cowboys Stadium.

4. Do they know how to win in the Cowboys' new stadium or what? They own the NFC East right now.

ESPN was the most complimentary, though, as they gave the Giants the No. 2 spot for a second consecutive week, behind only the undefeated Falcons:

2. Seventh time in nine New York seasons Tom Coughlin has gone 6-2 or better in the first half. Only twice has he won at least five in the second half. (Graziano)

They'll look to make it five wins in a row when they host the Steelers in Week 9.
