New York Giants middle linebacker Chase Blackburn has left Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with an apparent left-leg injury.
After spending some time on the ground, pounding his fist on the ground in frustration, trainers elected to have him leave to the locker room for further evaluation. Blackburn was able to walk off under his own power, and looked to be in good spirits as he talked to teammates sitting on the bench.
An undrafted free agent in 2005, Chase Blackburn has done a little bit of everything for the New York Giants. A seven-game starter this season, he was on pace to have his best season in the NFL with 42 tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.
The New York Giants now move from one undrafted free agent to another, as Mark Herzlich will replace Blackburn in a starting role. In seven games this season Herzlich has just four tackles, primarily in a special teams role.
