Giants, Redskins trade barbs over Cruz touchdown

The Washington Redskins and New York Giants both made comments regarding the 77-yard game-winning touchdown catch by Victor Cruz in the Giants' 27-23 win over the Redskins.

The Washington Redskins and New York Giants traded barbs regarding the 77-yard touchdown reception by Victor Cruz that propelled the Giants over the Redskins for a 27-23 victory.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall did not want to give Eli Manning much credit for the play, saying that poor defense "gave" the Giants the score. Hall said "I could have thrown that ball, and he would have scored. It wasn't something where he was a rocket scientist, and he figured something out."

On Wednesday, Manning responded to Hall's comments, saying "I appreciate him giving it to me." Manning agreed that it didn't take a rocket scientist, he just hit the open guy. The Giants quarterback said that it is their job as an offense to take advantage of defensive mistakes.

Cruz commented that opposing defenses always seem to take shots at the Giants and that while it's disrespectful, they "can't dwell on it."

Defensive end Justin Tuck also responded:

"For all you guys out there listening, if you play us, if you feel like you want to give us something, I will take some sacks. I am sure Eli will take more 70-yard touchdown passes, Coach Coughlin will take a couple more wins to separate himself from Coach Parcells, there are all types of things."
