Free agent point guard Jason Kidd is nearing a deal that would see the veteran end his long career with the Dallas Mavericks. According to a Thursday morning report out of Dallas, Kidd and the Mavericks are close to a deal that is expected to be finished soon. No snags are anticipated.
Talk about Kidd joining Deron Williams circulated earlier in the free agent period. Kidd himself talked about that possibility, and Williams was one of several high profile players on the Mavericks' radar.
Dreams of a package deal with Kidd and Williams ended earlier in the week when Williams re-signed with the Nets and Kidd kept talking with Dallas. Kidd will continue playing alongside Dirk Nowitzki.
The New York Knicks were also said to be in talks with Kidd.
