Derrick Rose Injury Update: Bulls' Guard Will Play, According To Head Coach

The playing status and injury report for Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose has been released, and the star point guard will play against the New York Knicks on Sunday (1 p.m. ET on ABC). Rose has missed the last 12 contests with a strained groin, and was expected to not make the start against the Knicks, who are trying to cling onto the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Ironically, Rose will return to the hardwood against the same team that he played when he suffered the injury, March 12. SB Nation Chicago had this analysis of Rose's return:

Rose's return is certainly a welcome sight for Chicago, but only if he's truly healthy. Since suffering the injury against these same Knicks on March 12, reports on Rose's prognosis have been mixed. Assuming Rose is pain-free and ready to go for coach Tom Thibodeau's team, it's a huge boost to get back on the floor with the postseason quickly approaching.
