Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov Says He Will 'Crush' Mark Cuban In Kickboxing Match Over Deron Williams

New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is serious about re-signing All-Star point guard Deron Williams. In jest, Prokhorov challenged Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to a kickboxing match if Williams were to sign with Dallas.

"Let the best man win," Prokhorov said. "If he wins, I will crush him with the kickboxing throwdown."

About the negotiations with Williams, Prokhorov said

"We have, I think we have a very good discussion," Prokhorov said. "He really wants to win. And I want to win maybe even more. Really I don't want to go into details. But really I think at this stage, we are on the same page." (via New York Daily News)

Keeping Williams is key to the Nets being a future winner, as Prokhorov knows. Monetarily, the Nets have about $30 million more to offer than Dallas. However, Texas is home for Williams and where he played high school basketball.

After missing out on the potential acquisition of Dwight Howard this season, the Nets might not have the star power to retain Williams at any price.
