NBA Standings 2012: New York Knicks 1.5 Games Ahead Of Milwaukee Bucks

The New York Knicks' recent success could be driving them into the 2012 NBA playoffs.

Thanks in part to a Philadelphia 76ers' skid, the Knicks are tied for seventh place in the Eastern Conference with Philadelphia, 1.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks are surging at the right time despite serious injuries to Amare Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin, but still have several games left against playoff teams.

The full 2012 NBA standings follow:

Eastern Standings

GP W-L PCT
Chicago Bulls 57 43-14 .754
Miami Heat 55 40-15 .727
Indiana Pacers 57 35-22 .614
Boston Celtics 56 32-24 .571
Atlanta Hawks 57 34-23 .596
Orlando Magic 57 34-23 .596
New York Knicks 56 29-27 .518
Philadelphia 76ers 56 29-27 .518
Milwaukee Bucks 57 28-29 .491
Detroit Pistons 57 21-36 .368
New Jersey Nets 58 21-37 .362
Toronto Raptors 58 20-38 .345
Cleveland Cavaliers 54 18-36 .333
Washington Wizards 57 13-44 .228
Charlotte Bobcats 55 7-48 .127

If New York gets really hot and the Boston Celtics cool off due to a difficult final-month schedule, it's possible for New York to catch Boston in the Atlantic Division, which would give the Knicks the East's fourth seed. The Knicks are currently three games behind Boston.
