The New York Knicks playoffs hopes got a boost Sunday when Carmelo Anthony's heroics helped them down the visiting Chicago Bulls, 100-99, in overtime. Can Melo' and the Knicks do it again on Tuesday? On the road no-less? That's what fans will find out, when New York takes on the first-place Bulls at the United Center (9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN).
On Sunday, Anthony scored 43 points and hit not one but two big shots to propel the Knicks (29-27) past the Bulls (43-17). The victory allowed (then) eighth-place New York to cling onto a slim lead in the Eastern Conference standings, which now features the Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers (29-27) in a tie for seventh, however, both are just 1 1/2-games ahead of the ninth-place team, the Milwaukee Bucks.
Tuesday's contest will be the finale in the four-game, regular-season series against these two teams. The Bulls have a 2-1 series advantage, with a 104-99 victory over New York in Chicago on April 8.
