The New Jersey Nets headed south to visit the Miami Heat Tuesday night, but they were never able to keep it close in a 108-78 loss.
New Jersey (12-27) shot just 37.3 percent from the floor and allowed Miami (29-9) to make 58.4 percent of their field goal attempts one game after losing center Brook Lopez for three weeks due to a sprained right ankle. Dwayne Wade also tweaked his right ankle late in the first half Tuesday night, though he is not expected to miss any games. As a precaution, Wade sat out the second half. He finished with 13 points. LeBron James led all scorers with 21 points, while Chris Bosh added 20 in his first game back with the Heat after missing their last three games following the death of his grandfather.
For the Nets, Deron Williams led the way with 16 points and four assists, while MarShon Brooks added 12 points and Johan Petro scored 11.
New Jersey returns home Wednesday night, but their schedule doesn't get any easier as the Los Angeles Clippers (22-14) come to town.
