In an ironical twist, the New Jersey Nets meet the Orlando Magic Friday night at 7 p.m., just one day after the trade deadline came and went without a Dwight Howard deal.
The Nets reportedly tried to land Howard many times, but settled for acquiring Gerald Wallace at the deadline after Orlando's superstar center waived his opt-out option for next season. The Nets have now turned to 'Plan B,' which likely amounts to trying to surround Deron Williams with as much talent as possible in an attempt to keep Williams.
New Jersey beat Toronto on Wednesday behind 26 points from Gerald Green, who initially signed a 10-day contract with the Nets but has been playing like someone who plans to stay awhile.
Orlando lost 122-111 to San Antonio on Wednesday despite 25 points from Jameer Nelson.
