That is because the long-time NBA doormat New Jersey Nets are suddenly acting like a good team. The Nets won their fifth straight game on Monday night, defeating Boston, 88-79. This is the first time the Nets have won five straight in more than three years. The Celtics, by the way, are the best team in the Eastern Conference.

The New Jersey Devils host the Atlanta Thrashers tonight in what is probably the most important game of the season to date for New Jersey. The Devils are just six points behind the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, and are just four points behind the 10th-place Thrashers. A victory tonight could move the Devils within four points of the playoffs. A loss might be a crushing blow to their playoff hopes.
