New Jersey Nets forward Travis Outlaw reportedly broke his right hand during the offseason while punching a heavy bag in a gym.
Outlaw is expected to meet with Nets team doctors later this week. He had surgery on his wrist eight weeks ago. The injury is not expected to keep him out of the season opener for the 2011-2012 season. However, he might not be on the team by then as the Nets may use the new NBA amnesty clause to get out of their deal with Outlaw.
Nets still strongly leaning toward using amnesty on Outlaw's deal, but what's unclear are league rules for players injured during lockout.
Outlaw started played 82 games and started 55 of those games for the Nets in 2010-2011. He averaged 9.2 points per game and 4 rebounds per game.
