New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson announced shortly before his team was due to tip off against the Chicago Bulls that rookie Derrick Favors would receive the first start of his NBA career.
The team has been cautious when dealing with the third overall's minutes, but Johnson figured with the team struggling that it seemed right to slot Favors in next to Brook Lopez.
"This is just the right time to get him in the lineup."
So far in 33 games this season, Favors is averaging 6.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18.7 minutes of action.
