Morning Coffee! Hey, Rex Ryan Is Talking

Good morning, New York sports fans! Let's take our first look at the local sports scene on a frigid Tuesday morning.

  • Maybe we should just call this Rex Ryan Week here at SB Nation New York. The New York Jets coach is already in full voice as his team begins preparations for its divisional round playoff game in Foxboro against the arch-rival New England Patriots. I wish the guy would be quiet, but most likely he wants it this way -- he wants everybody focused on him rather than on his players.

  • Carmelo Anthony will be a New Jersey Net. Or, maybe he won't. Predictably, the completed trade the Nets are trying to broker has hit a snag. We will be following the developing story as closely as we can, so keep it here.

  • The New York Rangers bolstered their depleted front line with a trade for Wojtek Wolski Monday. It's a little bit of robbing Peter to pay Paul since Rangers GM Glen Sather risked weakening his defense by trading away Michael Roszival.
  • ↵
  • New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell wants to be a head coach, but it is looking more and more like that won't happen in 2011.

  • Congratulations to the Auburn Tigers. Auburn defeated Oregon, 22-19, Monday night to win the BCS National Championship Game.
