  • The New York Jets get another crack at the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs this weekend. Patriots coach Bill Belicheck had it right when he said that was "the way it should be." New England won the last meeting in Foxboro, 45-3. I am sure Rex Ryan will be reminding his players all week about that beating.

  • Carmelo Anthony could be on his way to New Jersey. It seems the Nets might be able to pull off a very complicated three-team deal that would land 'Melo in New Jersey. This would be the signature rebuilding move that the Nets have been hoping for. In all the talk about this possible deal the one thing I have not heard is that Anthony is willing to sign a long-term contract extension with the Nets. The Nets need to be sure that is the case if they pull the trigger on a deal that costs them Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and a pair of first-round picks.

  • The New York Knicks could not measure up to the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers Sunday night, losing 109-87.

  • New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell interviewed with the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Fewell is also a candidate in Cleveland and Carolina.

  • The New Jersey Devils found their offense Sunday night in a 6-3 victory over Tampa Bay.

  • The looooong college bowl season finally ends tonight with the only game of any real significance as Auburn and Oregon meet in the BCS Championship Game.
