Good morning, New York sports fans! Here is your first look at today's local sports scene.

- Let's start with college hoops today. The St. John's Red Storm won the MSG Holiday Festival Tuesday night, with an 85-69 victory over Northwestern. The Big East season starts shortly after Christmas, and that's a nice momentum builder for St. John's as conference play starts. ↵
- Speaking of momentum, the New York Jets are looking for some. The Jets are coming off a terrific victory over Pittsburgh, and now they hope to go into Chicago and come away with a second straight road victory over a playoff-bound team. ↵
- The New York Giants aren't looking for momentum. They are looking for the entrance door to the NFC playoffs. If the Giants can go to Green Bay and win Sunday they will earn at least a wild-card berth. If they lose Sunday, the Giants will need help on the final weekend of the season to get into the playoffs. ↵
- The New Jersey Nets won a road game Tuesday night. Nope, that is not a misprint. The Nets actually won a road game, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies, 101-94. ↵
- The New York Yankees are losing the arms race this off-season, with Cliff Lee in Philly and Andy Pettitte possibly retiring. Yankee general manager Brian Cashman is not exactly on the street-corner with a tin cup begging for help, but Howard Megdal does wonder if anyone has arms for sale that the Yankees could use. ↵
