Lakers 99, Nets 92: New Jersey Fights To The End, But Loses 7th Straight

The New Jersey Nets lost their seventh straight game on Sunday when they fell to the Los Angeles Lakers - , but it was one of their better performances of the season.

Brook Lopez scored 25 points as the Nets were tied with the defending champions with two minutes remaining.

Devin Harris added 16 points after being a game time decision because of a shoulder injury, while Anthony Morrow added 15.  Jordan Farmar scored eight points against his former team.

Throughout his career, Kobe Bryant had only averaged 21.8 points against the Nets but Sunday afternoon poured in 32 to go along with six assists, four rebounds and four steals.  Lamar Odom added 22 points and Pau Gasol had a double-double (15-11).

Quinton Ross started in place of injured rookie Damion James and failed to score in 20 minutes of action.  Rookie Derrick Favors played 13 minutes with a leg injury and finished with eight points and five rebounds.  Travis Outlaw only logged six minutes two games after being sent to the bench.

The Nets are in the middle of a three-game home stand and will be back in action Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
