Brook Lopez had the New Jersey Nets road to a .500 road trip in his hands, directly under the basket thanks to a perfect pass from Travis Outlaw. But the center put the ball off the glass too strong and instead of potentially forcing overtime, the Nuggets were able to ice a 107-103 victory.
New Jersey finished with a record of 1-3 while on the West coast, though they were in every game down the stretch.
Despite missing that point blank shot, Lopez paced the Nets with 20 points as they scored over 100 points for just the second time in the last seven games. In all, 7 nets finished in double figures including rookie Derrick Favors (14) who has been long rumored to be heading to Denver in a trade for Carmelo Anthony.
Anthony led the way for the Nuggets scoring 28 points and 8 rebounds. Nene added 22 as the only other Denver starter to finish with more than 10 points.
The Nets will head back to New Jersey to take on the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night before going back on the road again.
