Flyers Vs. Devils, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 1: Petr Sykora Goal Ties Game At 3-3, Sends It To Overtime

After fighting to a 2-2 standstill after two periods, the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers are heading to overtime in Game 1 of this Round 2 Eastern Conference Playoffs series. Each team scored a goal in the third period to end regulation in a 3-3 tie.

The Flyers struck first with Claude Giroux firing a rocket from the face-off spot on the left wing (video) at 4:19 in the third period. However, Petr Sykora received a nice pass from David Clarkson and skated in a dead-heat with a Flyers player before inching ahead slightly. Sykora then got off a shot that went right through Ilya Bryzgalov's five hole. Check it out below:

That goal came at 11:22 in the period, but the two teams played to a stalemate over the remaining time left on the clock.

The Devils managed to put four shots on net this period, but they had enough to get one past the goalie.
