The Eastern Conference's sixth seed, the New Jersey Devils, defeated the Florida Panthers, 3-2, in game one of first round of the 2012 NHL Playoffs.
New Jersey jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period, and held on to win after two second period goals from the Panthers. Devils goalie, Martin Broudeur, finished the game with a save percentage of .923 in his 100th career playoff win.
Dainius Zubrus had a strong game one performance for the Devils, scoring a goal and assisting another.
Including game one, the Devils are 3-2 against the Panthers this season. Game two is scheduled for Sunday, when the Devils will look to take a 2-0 lead heading back to New Jersey.
