Devils GM Lou Lamoriello: Center Travis Zajac Will Rest Through All-Star Break

The New Jersey Devils will rest their top center, Travis Zajac, through the NHL All-Star break, Devils GM Lou Lamiorello announced on Wednesday (via New York Post).

Zajac had surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon last August. He made his debut this season on Dec. 16 against Dallas but has not played since Jan. 2.

Lamiorello said that decision to rest Zajac came after he consulted with the doctor who did the surgery

"Travis was still a little sore, so we flew him to Winnipeg to see the doctor that performed the surgery. He said it was best to shut him down for a couple of weeks. He won't be do anything at all," Lamoriello said.

Zajac has one goal and two assists in eight games played this season. The All-Star break ends on Jan. 29.
