Devils-Hurricanes Final Score: New Jersey Outlasts Carolina 3-2

The New Jersey Devils skated into the Prudential Center on Tuesday night to take on the Carolina Hurricanes without the services of injured left wing Ilya Kovalchuk.

Turns out they didn’t even need him.

That’s because the Devils were able to win their third consecutive game thanks to a third period game winner by Adam Henrique (assisted by Dainius Zubrus and Mark Fayne), who had a seven foot wrap-around at the 16:41 mark to give New Jersey the lead.

Your final score: Devils 3, Hurricanes 2.

Carolina drew first blood in the opening frame when Brandon Sutter scored a shorthanded goal by snapping one in from 16 feet out. It would remain one-zip until 10:56 of the second stanza, when Dainius Zubrus (assisted by Anton Volchenkov and Patrik Elias) came in from long distance to tie the game.

Petr Sykora and Joni Pitkanen would each find the net in the third period to make it two apiece, but Henrique stepped up to give the Devils the win and send the Hurricanes to their third consecutive defeat.

New Jersey improves to 7-5-1 while Carolina falls to 5-7-3.
