New Jersey Devils winger Ilya Kovalchuk could return to the lineup Tuesday night when the Devils visit the Boston Bruins (7 p.m., MSG PLUS 2).
Kovalchuk, who has missed the last four games with a groin injury, told reporters he would be a game-time decision against the Bruins.
"It feels pretty good," Kovalchuk said after working hard long after the Devils' morning skate was over. "I'll take the warmup tonight and make a decision tonight."
The Devils are 3-1-0 in Kovalchuk's absence, including a 3-2 shootout victory against Washington on Saturday. Petr Sykora and Ryan Carter scored second-period goals against the Capitals, and David Clarkson banged home New Jersey's fourth shootout attempt for the win.
The Bruins enter the meeting with a five-game winning streak. Tyler Seguin was named the NHL's first star of the week for games played this past week. The 19-year old leads the Bruins with 20 points.
