Martin Brodeur Injury Update: Goalie Still Expected To Sit Friday Against San Jose

New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur is expected to sit Friday against the San Jose Sharks with a shoulder injury suffered last week.

Coach Pete DeBoer told The North Jersey Record there was very little to update in regards to Brodeur's status. Nonetheless, Brodeur missed practice again today and as a result is unlikely to start against the Sharks.

"If he didn't skate today, the plan was that we wouldn't play him Friday," DeBoer said.

Brodeur has not returned to the ice since leaving in the first period against Los Angeles last Thursday. Johan Hedberg started in Brodeur's place Saturday against the Nashville Predators and stopped 29 shots in a 3-2 win.

It's still possible that Brodeur dresses as the backup on Friday. DeBoer said judgement on that issue should come later.

"I guess it depends on whether he's capable of backing up," DeBoer said. "So, we'll know more about that later."
